The Canadian Scent Hurdle Racing Association (CSHRA) is a not-for-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to supporting and managing the sport of Scent Hurdle Racing as it continues to grow across Canada.
Scent Hurdle Racing is a relay race between two teams of four dogs. Dogs race over a series of three or four hurdles to a scent box which contains four dumbbells. The dog runs up the lane, retrieves not just any dumbbell but their unique, numbered dumbbell and returns down the lane with it to the owner. Then the next dog in the team is released, etc. The fastest team of 4 dogs to correctly complete the race wins!
Any dog of any breed or mix that is older than 1 year of age. When Tournaments are held independently, there is no requirement for CKC registration. Some Tournaments are also held in conjunction with CKC events, and for those the dogs must be registered with the CKC (includes PEN or mixed breed CCN).
